IOWA CITY, Iowa — Crews from the University of Iowa scrimmaged with crews from Indiana and Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday. The varsity crews ran two single file time trials on Friday and six 1,000-meter repeats on Saturday. The novice crews ran six 600-meter repeats on Saturday.

“It was a terrific opportunity for us to go up against two programs of that quality and the friendly nature of it all makes it even better, “said UI head coach Andrew Carter.

“We took a fair amount away from the racing.  While I was certainly able to identify some areas we need to continue to address, a lot of what I saw out there was really encouraging. Our crews are rowing with really good composure for so early in the year and I’m particularly pleased with them being able to do so against teams like Wisconsin and Indiana.”

The Hawkeyes return to the water Oct. 21-22 at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston and Oct. 22 at the Jayhawk Jamboree in Lawrence, Kansas.
