The University of Iowa women’s basketball team continues Big Ten Tournament play on Friday, March 2, taking on fourth-seeded Minnesota. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m. (CT) inside Bankers Life Field House in Indianapolis.

BIG TEN TOURNAMENT HISTORY
• Iowa is 23-21 in the Big Ten Tournament since its inception in 1994-95.
• The Hawkeyes have claimed two tournament titles (1997, 2001) and made four championship game appearances.

FAST START SENDS IOWA PAST NORTHWESTERN
• Iowa raced to a 22-1 lead after the first quarter Thursday and eliminated Northwestern (12-20) from the Big Ten Tournament, 55-45.
• Sophomore Makenzie Meyer was 3-for-4 from 3-point range in the first quarter.
• Iowa held Northwestern without a field goal for the opening 11 minutes and 10 seconds of the game.
• Meyer led the team with 13 points, while junior Megan Gustafson scored 12 points.
• Redshirt freshman Alexis Sevillian scored all nine of her points in the fourth quarter. She was 2-of-4 from the field (2-for-2 from distance) and 3-for-4 from the line.
• Iowa assisted on 21 made field goals. Sophomore Kathleen Doyle led the team with seven assists.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
• Iowa and Minnesota split a pair of meetings during the regular season.
• The Gophers defeated the Hawkeyes, 77-72, in Minneapolis on Jan. 21. Iowa evened the series with a 92-84 victory in Iowa City on Feb. 4.
• In two games against Minnesota this season, junior Megan Gustafson is averaging 22.5 points and 12.5 rebounds.
• Sophomore Kathleen Doyle averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in a pair of contests against the Gophers.
• Minneapolis native Chase Coley averaged 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds against her home state. Sophomore Makenzie Meyer also averaged double figures in scoring with 10.0 points per game.

THROWING THE FIRST PUNCH
• Iowa has outscored its opponents 169-88 in the first quarter over its last eight games.
• The Hawkeyes are averaging 21.1 points in the first quarter over that span and holding their opponents to 11.0 points per game in the opening 10 minutes.
• Iowa has led after the first quarter in each of its last eight games. The Hawkeyes are a perfect 8-0 during that span.
