Aug. 14, 2003

The Hawkeyes lost their first two games on their current four-game exhibition tour to an extremely talented Italian National Team. On Thursday, Iowa dropped the opening game, 107-65. Iowa senior Jennie Lillis led all scorers with 21 points. The Italian National Team won the second contest, 115-54, on Friday. Lillis led the Hawkeyes with 15 points.

“Although the score doesn’t reflect it, we did improve in some areas that will help us in our season,” said Iowa Head Coach Lisa Bluder. Facing their National Team was incredibly challenging. We had to adjust to their physical and up-tempo play. They will do extremely well in the World University games next week in Seoul, Korea.”

Iowa’s next game will be against Krupp Udine on Tuesday in Tolmezzo.
