This Week: The Iowa women’s tennis team hosts the Drake Bulldogs Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. in the University Recreation Building.
The Bulldogs: The Bulldogs are 0-2 in spring competition, dropping 7-0 losses to Wisconsin and Western Michigan. Drake competes Friday against Illinois-Chicago and Saturday at Iowa State before facing the Hawkeyes on Sunday. The Bulldogs top players are Annali de Cruyn and Rebekah Thomas.
Iowa at Hawkeye Invite: The Hawkeyes dominated the competition at last weekend’s Hawkeye Invitational. Iowa swept Iowa State (7-0) and Northern Iowa (7-0). In the final match-up, Iowa defeated Northern Illinois, 6-1. The Huskies were able to win a doubles match and a singles match.
In the Rankings: The Hawkeyes dropped to 66th in the ITA Rankings. The rankings are voted on by every member of an ITA Regional Committee.
Quoting Coach Wardlaw: “Drake will be an excellent test for us this weekend. I expect the match to be a challenge, especially so early in the season.”
