Up in one, down in another summarizes the University of Iowa football team’s standing in the nation’s Top 25 polls after Week 1 of the 2004 college football season. The Hawkeyes jumped three positions in the Associated Press’ elite list, for 19th to 16th after their lopsided victory over Kent State in last Saturday’s Throwback Game in historic Kinnick Stadium. The Hawkeyes are one of six Big Ten Conference teams listed in the poll that is headed by Southern California.
Iowa will play its second straight game before a sold out Kinnick Stadium Saturday when Iowa State visits for the first game in the new Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series.

Iowa traded positions with Kansas State in the USA Today Top 25, moving to 13th after having started the year at No. 12. USC is tops in this list and, like the AP poll, Iowa is one of six Big Ten teams included.
The Hawkeyes return to action Saturday when they entertain Iowa State in the first event of the new Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series. Kickoff in historic Kinnick Stadium is set for shortly after 11 a.m. The game is sold out.
