Meet Kyle J. Krause

Kyle Krause’s strong business drive has led him up the ranks of Kum & Go.In 1997, he was named president of Kum & Go. Mr. Krause oversees all Kum & Go convenience store profit and loss responsibilities, accounting and information systems. Kyle is also the owner and president of Solar Transport, the largest Iowa-based refined fuel transporter. In 1998, Kyle purchased majority ownership of the Des Moines Menace, a Premier Development League soccer team.

Dedicated Community Business Leader

Kyle Krause has followed the civic and philanthropic footsteps of his father, W.A. Krause. He has been active on numerous boards such as the Greater Des Moines Partnership Community Foundation Board, Iowa Governor’s Blue Ribbon Committee Task Force on Transportation and Government Services, Dowling Catholic High School and Iowa Motor Truck Association, among others. In 1992, he served as cochairman of United Way’s New Business Development committee. Kyle is actively involved in Junior Achievement (JA) of Central Iowa. From 1996 to 1998, he was JA board chairman and has served on the Executive Committee and for seven years, was chair of JA’s Golf Classic. Kyle has been recognized as a dedicated businessman and community champion.

Kyle earned a NACS (National Association of Convenience Stores) Leadership MBA from the Fisher School of Business at the Ohio State University.

Kyle and the University of Iowa
Kyle received a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Iowa. While attending UI he was an active member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Kyle delivered the 2001 commencement speech at the Henry B. Tippie College of Business. Kyle assists his father, W.A. Krause, with coordination of the Krause Challenge, an educational investment-management program at the University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa, Iowa State University and Drake University the Krauses founded. Additionally, Kyle’s wife, Sharon, is an Executive MBA graduate from the University of Iowa.

Kyle and wife Sharon have five children: sons Ryan, Tanner, Elliott, Oliver and daughter Emily.
