hawkeyesports.com will expand its content offering today by providing exclusive live coverage of Steve Alford’s presentation to the media assembled for Iowa Basketball Media Day, 2005-06.
Friends and fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes interested in watching today’s media conference should visit the multimedia section of hawkeyesports.com shortly before 12:30 p.m.Iowa time and click on the link “LIVE Alford / Media Day” provided under Wednesday, October 13. Fans will need a RealMedia player and high-speed internet service to watch the program.
Season, mini-season, discounted group tickets and tickets to the 2004 Black and Gold Basketball Blowout are on sale now at the UI Athletic Ticket Office.

Today’s free programming is a test project for hawkeyesports.com. If successful, live streaming video of future weekly media conferences of members of Iowa’s coaching staff will be available exclusively at hawkeyesports.com. Fans of the Hawkeyes interested in watching those events will be required to purchase a College Sports Pass.
Today’s media conference is the latest addition to the multimedia area of hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Current content includes Iowa Football with Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa Football Replay Show, two programs produced and distributed by the UI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
It also includes video of Ferentz and student-athletes taken at Iowa’s weekly media event for football, start-to-finish audio of Ferentz’s weekly visit with the media, and “Inside Iowa,” a daily feature produced for the UI by the Hawkeye Radio Network.
hawkeyesports.com enjoyed record traffic in the month of September with more than 4.4 million pages of content being downloaded by visitors to the site. The previous record was 3.5 million set in November 2003.
Fans that couldn’t watch the Alford piece of Iowa Basketball Media Day live can view the press conference at their leisure by accessing the archived version that will be available inside the multimedia section of hawkeyesports.com late Tuesday.
