Three Hawkeyes Make Academic Team

Three University of Iowa football student-athletes have been named to the 2004 CoSIDA District Academic All-America Team. Junior Mike Elgin and seniors Sean Considine and Kody Asmus were today named to the prestigious team.

Elgin, a starting center until getting hurt last week against Purdue, was named to the first district Academic All-America team. He has a 3.90 grade-point-average while majoring in mechanical engineering. He is a native of Bankston, IA. As a member of the first team, he automatically goes on the ballot for the national Academic All-America team.

Considine and Asmus were both named to the second team.

Considine is Iowa’s starting free safety and has 31 tackles and an interception this season. He is a two-time member of the Academic all-Big Ten team. He is a native of Byron, IL. Asmus is the Hawkeye deep snapper on punts. Considine has a 3.32 GPA in marketing. Asmus has a 3.80 GPA in education administration.
