INDIANAPOLIS – The Big Ten Conference and the Indiana Sports Corporation announced today that single-session tickets for the 2005 Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament will go on sale at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 5 through Ticketmaster and the Conseco Fieldhouse box office.
The women’s tournament takes place March 3-7 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis with no games on March 5 due to the IHSAA Girls’ State Basketball Finals. Purdue is the two-time defending Big Ten women’s tournament champion.
In this week’s national polls, the Big Ten has five teams represented in the Coaches poll, while four squads are ranked by the Associated Press. Ohio State is No. 2/3 (AP/Coaches) – the highest ranking in school history. Michigan State is No. 10/10, while Minnesota is No. 14/16 and Penn State is No. 23/23. Iowa is ranked No. 25 by the Coaches and is receiving votes in the AP poll, while Purdue is receiving votes in both polls.
In addition, Four Big Ten student-athletes – Michigan State’s Lindsay Bowen, Minnesota’s Janel McCarville, Ohio State’s Jessica Davenport and Penn State’s Tanisha Wright – have been selected among the top 20 women’s basketball players to the Wooden Award Midseason All-America Team selected by the John R. Wooden Award National Advisory Board.
