The Iowa GymHawks finished second at the Hearts Invitational Friday night, scoring a 193.925. Host North Carolina State won the meet with a 195.4, with George Washington finishing third (193.475) and William and Mary coming in fourth (188.25).
The Hawkeyes broke four individual season bests (bars, beam floor and all-around) and two team season bests (bars and beam). Freshman Natalie Padilla won two event titles, tying for first on vault (9.825) and floor (9.85). Romina Mazzoni and Annie Rue tied for top honors on bars, both scoring a 9.825. On beam, Liz Grajewski and Danielle Legeai tied for second place (9.875). Grajewski also won the all-around title, finishing with a season-high 38.875.
Iowa will compete next when they host the Iowa State Cyclones Saturday, February 19 at 8 p.m. in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
