Miller Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week

Feb. 17, 2005

The Big Ten Conference Office today announced that junior golfer Luke Miller has been named Big Ten Golfer of the Week. The accolade is the first of Miller’s career. He is the first Hawkeye to earn weekly honors since Matt Stutzman won the award on April 12, 2000.

Miller tied for 15th after firing a two-over par (142) in the 36-hole River City Classic, which took place Monday and Tuesday in New Orleans. Miller shot a two-over par (74) in the first round and an even-par (72) in the final round. The native of West Des Moines helped the Hawkeyes to a sixth place finish in Iowa’s first spring tournament.

The Hawkeyes return to action when Iowa competes in the Emerald Coast Collegiate in Pensacola, FL, beginning March 7.
