Steve Houghton talks with Brent Balbinot about his Iowa men’s tennis team who has answered their coach’s pre-season questions in a big way thus far this spring.

Monday, Feb. 21
One game at a time is a must now for Coach Steve Alford’s Hawkeyes, who travel to Minnesapolis on Wednesday for a date with Minnesota. “The guys are fighting,” Alford told Gary Dolphin, who also noted that the Iowa women are also taking that one-game-at-a-time approach as they attempt to tighten down a berth in the NCAA’s post-season party for women’s basketball.

Next on the agenda for Steve Alford’s Hawkeyes is top-ranked and unbeaten Illinois. Greg Brunner visits with Bobby Hansen and Gary Dolphin about this important Big Ten basketball game.

Thursday, Feb. 17
Seniors Night is Saturday for Larissa Libby’s Iowa women’s gymnastics team. The Hawkeyes entertain the Iowa State Cyclones in a Cy-Hawk Series event in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Wednesdasy, Feb. 16
It’s a little too cool to be thinking water sports with one one exception: Members of the Iowa rowing team. Mandi Kowal visits with Brent Balbinot about the Hawkeyes.

Tuesday, Feb. 15
It’s the indoor track season and the Hawkeyes have one of the nation’s best throwers who has had to overcome a series of injuries to earn that position of prominence. Brent Balbinot visits with LarryWieczorek about Randy Banse of Strawberry Point.

Monday, Feb. 14
The third annual Iowa Football FanFest drew a record crowd 350 participants and included a bucketload of black-and-gold. Gary Dolphin provides a quick look at this very special pigskin event.

An invitation to the 2005 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship may hinge on a strong finish by Coach Lisa Bluder’s Hawkeyes. Brent Balbinot visits with Bluder about the status of her squad.

Monday, Feb. 7
Coach Steve Alford’s Hawkeyes staged a furious comeback Saturday against nationally ranked Michigan State but came up short. There’s no time to reflect, however. Wisconsin is up next.

Coach Steve Alford’s nationally ranked Iowa Hawkeyes have a little time off before squaring off with Michigan State Saturday in Carver-Hawkeye. Alford’s squad will use the momentum of its big win over Indiana to get ready for the Spartans.

Friday, Jan. 28
Gary Dolphin looks ahead to tomorrow’s men’s basketball game against Indiana inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Tip off is set for 4 p.m. and the game is the first of three against teams that rank ahead of Iowa in the league standings.

Brent Balbinot visits with talented UI senior center Jamie Cavey, the 21st Hawkeye to score 1,000 points as a member of Iowa’s women’s basketball program.

Lisa Bluder’s Iowa women’s basketball team broke into the Associated Press’ Top 25 yesterday and for good reason: Iowa won a triller last Friday at Creighton to push its record to a perfect 8-0.

It’s finals week on the UI campus, so Iowa’s men’s basketball team will be idle until Saturday. Steve Alford’s squad ended its three-game series against intrastate rivals with a big win over Iowa State, sparked by former Cyclone Adam Haluska.

Friday, Dec. 10
A win on the hardcourt of Carver-Hawkeye Arena by Coach Steve Alford’s squad tonight gives Iowa a sweep of the intrastate series. The win won’t be easy to secure, however. Steve explains to Gary Dolphin in today’s installment of Inside Iowa.

Iowa’s wrestling program isn’t picked as high in the early-season rankings as it is accustomed. However, UI Coach Jim Zalesky isn’t as concerned about what those outside of his program think. He’s focused on those in Hawkeye workout room.

It takes a fair amount of work to put the weekly television shows of Iowa’s head football coach and men’s basketball coach on the air each week. Brent Balbinot visits with the man behind the camera and more, UI Video Director Mike Moriarity.

Lisa Bluder talks about the change in Crystal Smith’s play from last year to this year. Smith has played a big role in Iowa’s 6-0 start and will need another strong performance Wednesday against Marquette if the Hawkeyes are to improve to 7-0.

Northern Iowa and Iowa State are next on the agenda for Coach Steve Alford’s nationally ranked Hawkeyes. The first opponent will pit a pair of powerful backcourts head-to-head Tuesday night in the Arena.

Marc Long’s Iowa women’s swimming team is the next UI squad set to score points in the new Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series. The Hawkeyes entertain Iowa State at 1 p.m., Saturday, in the UI Fieldhouse pool.

Wednesday, Dec. 1
Larissa Libby’s Iowa women’s gymnastics team takes center staged in today’s installment of Inside Iowa. The Hawkeyes are looking to fill holes in the lineup after enjoying back-to-back Top 10 finishes.

Tuesday, Nov. 30
The Iowa women’s basketball team has surprised its opponents and even itself with its early season success. Now, it’s Iowa State in the new Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series. High energy on and off the court would be big for the Hawkeyes. Libby’s squad and Coach Tom Dunn’s men’s team square off in the team’s annual Black and Gold event at 2 p.m. Saturday in the UI Fieldhouse.

Monday, Nov. 29
It’s roundball season and while neither Iowa basketball team had much chance to work on their tans during their recent trips to Hawaii and the Bahamas, both came away with very strong performances.

It’s hoops season. Alford’s squad won a biggie in Maui yesterday. Bluder’s squad heads to the Bahamas for action Friday and Saturday.
