AMEs, IA – University of Iowa throwers Andy Banse and Adam Hamilton improved their NCAA provisional qualifying marks with collegiate-best performances at the Last Chance Qualifier in Ames Saturday.
Banse won the shot put with a throw of 60-9 1/4, while Hamilton placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 66-4 1/4. Both performances rank third on Iowa’s all-time indoor best performers list, and improved Banse’s and Hamilton’s chances of advancing to the NCAA Indoor Championships, which will be held March 11-12 in Fayetteville, AR. Based on the current NCAA descending order lists, Banse ranks 16th in the nation in the shot put and Hamilton ranks 21st in the weight throw. The duo will find out if they made the NCAA field Monday at 7 p.m. (CT) when final start lists are made public.
