The 62nd-ranked University of Iowa women’s tennis team (7-3) travels to Waco, TX Wednesday to take on 17th-ranked Baylor at 6 p.m. The Hawkeyes will then go to Fort Worth, TX to compete against TCU at noon.
The Baylor Bears
The Bears have a 10-2 record with wins over ranked teams Clemson, TCU, Nebraska, Florida State, Pepperdine and Colorado. Losses have come against Georgia and Georgia Tech.
Freshman Zuzana Zemenova is ranked 21st in singles, with a 9-2 record at the No. 1 position. She is on an eight-match win streak. Sophomore Carolin Walter is ranked 69th. Zuzana Krchnakova is on a nine-match win streak and Klara Zrustova has won 10 straight.
In doubles, Daniela Covello and Zuzana Zemonova are ranked 24th with a 7-0 record at the No. 1 spot, and Covello with Zuzana Cerna are ranked 33rd.
The TCU Horned Frogs
The Frogs are ranked 21st with a 10-1 record. They have recorded wins against ranked teams Clemson, Texas A&M, Purdue, Indiana and Tulsa. TCU’s lone loss came against Baylor.
In singles, senior Story Tweedie-Yates is ranked 17th with a 9-2 record at the No. 1 position, and junior Helena Besovic is 52nd with a 9-2 mark at the No. 2 spot.
Tweedie-Yates teams up with Ana Cetnik in doubles to tie for 52nd in the rankings. The duo is 9-1 at the No. 1 position.
Zhukova on a Roll
Sophomore Anastasia Zhukova has been a strong player for the Hawkeyes this season. Zhukova is 9-1 in dual matches with her only loss coming against Christian Thompson of Notre Dame.
Tyler and Zhukova Double Trouble
Hilary Tyler and Anastasia Zhukova are 6-0 in doubles. They have five wins at the No. 2 spot, including victories over Notre Dame, Minnesota and Abilene Christian.
Hawkeyes In the Rankings
In the ITA poll, the Hawkeyes are ranked 62nd nationally. Hillary Mintz is ranked 91st.
