The University of Iowa will host the Big Ten Women’s Gymnastics Championships Saturday at 6 p.m. Competition will take place at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. General admission is $8; senior and students under 18 tickets are $5.

The Big Ten Championships on Television and the Web

CSTV will broadcast portions of the meet during a one hour broadcast. The broadcast will be tape delayed. Time of broadcast will be announced at a later time.

Live stats will be available at the Hawkeyes’ website, www.hawkeyesports.com, and the Big Ten website.

Scouting the Competition

Michigan is the highest ranked Big Ten team at seventh. The Wolverines are third on bars, tied for fourth on beam, seventh on floor and eighth on vault. Penn State is ranked 11th overall, with ratings of 11th on beam, 13th on floor, 14th on vault and 19th on bars. Minnesota ranks 22nd overall with rankings of 15th on floor and 23rd on vault. Illinois is ranked 20th on bars and 23rd on beam, Ohio State is tied for 19th on beam and Michigan State is 17th on bars.

Vault: Michigan’s Jenny Deiley is the only Big Ten individual ranked. She is tied for 10th. Other top vaulters include Michigan’s Katie Lieberman and Elise Ray, and Penn State’s Lisa Clark.

Bars: Ray is top-ranked in the nation on this event. Illinois’ Cara Pomeroy is fifth, Penn State’s Kristal Uzelac is tied for ninth and Deiley is tied for 15th.

Beam: Ray is tied for seventh, while teammate Lindsey Bruck is tied for 13th. Ohio State’s Elizabeth Meaney is tied for 18th.

Floor: No individual gymnasts are ranked on floor. Penn State’s Kate Stopper leads the Big Ten, with Bruck, Deiley and Clark following.

All-Around: Deiley is ranked 11th, Bruck is 12th and Ray is tied for 19th.

The Hawkeyes in the Big Ten

The Hawkeyes’ highest ranking in the Big Ten is on bars and beam, coming in fifth on both. Individually, Kortny Williamson is ranked 12th on vault and 16th on beam. Romina Mazzoni is 11th and Annie Rue is 15th on bars. Liz Grajewski ranks seventh in the all-around and is tied for 20th on floor.
