The 62nd-ranked University of Iowa women’s tennis team (7-5) hosts Big Ten rival Ohio State Friday. Competition will take place at North Dodge Athletic Club beginning at 7 p.m.
The Ohio State Buckeyes
The Buckeyes are ranked 75th with a 5-9 record. Ohio State has victories against Cleveland State, Youngstown State, Auburn, Akron and St. Louis. Sonia Ruzimovksy leads the Buckeyes with nine dual wins, playing at the No. 4, 5 and 6 spots. Lindsey Adams is the No. 1 singles player with a 3-2 record.
Tyler and Zhukova Double Trouble
Hilary Tyler and Anastasia Zhukova are 8-0 in doubles. They have seven wins at the No. 2 spot, including victories over Notre Dame, Baylor, TCU, Minnesota and Abilene Christian.
Veselinovic Hits 20 Wins
Freshman Milica Veselinovic earned her 20th singles win last week against TCU. Veselinovic leads the Hawkeyes in overall wins, while tying Zhukova for dual wins with nine.
Last Week Notes
The Hawkeyes went 1-2 over Spring Break in Texas. Iowa boasted a 7-0 victory at Abilene Christian, winning all nine matches. The Hawkeyes fell, 6-1, to No. 17 Baylor. The duo of Hilary Tyler and Anastasia Zhukova defeated Caroline Korsawe and Zuzana Cerna, 8-6. In singles, Milica Veselinovic defeated Iva Mihaylova, 6-0, 6-3, for Iowa’s lone point. Iowa also dropped to No. 21 TCU, 5-2. Tyler and Zhukova notched another win at the No. 2 doubles spot. Veseliniovic defeated Gloriann Lopez at the No. 4 singles spot, while Jacqueline Lee earned a win at the No. 6 position.
