Ann Arbor, MI — Hawkeye junior Michael Reavis (Tallahassee, FL) was crowned Big Ten floor exercise champion Saturday evening at the individual event finals of the Big Ten Championships, held at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, MI.
Reavis’ score of 9.762 broke the University of Iowa school record of 9.75 he set Friday evening in the team and all-around competition. For his efforts, Reavis was named first team All-Big Ten.
Senior Linas Gaveika (Vilnius, Lithuania) took fifth on horizontal bar for the Hawkeyes. He notched a season-best score of 9.687 and was also named to the All-Big Ten first team.
Senior Kenny Lin (Sparks, NV) finished in fourth place on rings with a score of 9.65. He was also honored as Iowa’s recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
Freshman Jacob Becker (Northampton, PA) placed eighth on pommel horse with a score of 7.937.
The Hawkeyes will wait until early next week to see if they are among the top 12 teams in the nation that are selected to compete at the 2005 NCAA Championships, which will be held April 7-9 in West Point, NY.
