The Hawkeye men’s track and field team sits in fourth place after two days of competition in the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. Iowa has 32 points while the defending champs from Wisconsin hold the lead with 65.

Senior Tim Brodersen took gold in the men’s discus toss with a throw of 187-00 feet. Other notable Hawkeye performances from the day include Tony Rakaric’s personal best of 9:03.29 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase which also qualifies him for the NCAA Regional Championships. Eight athletes also set new collegiate bests during the meet.

The men’s competition resumes tomorrow with the shot put slated to start at 12:30 p.m.
