It's Funny How Things Work Out

Kiley Fister, a freshman from St. Charles, Ill., grew up wanting to play Big Ten Conference volleyball. She also wanted to play for Cindy Fredrick. John Riehl tells the rest of the story in today’s edition of the Cedar Rapids Gazette.

“Fister’s dilemma during the recruiting process was made simple when Fredrick took the University of Iowa in May 2004,” writes Riehl.

“Fister got the best of both worlds when she signed to play for the Hawkeyes. Iowa also made out pretty well, grabbing a prep all-American setter.”

Fredrick’s 2005 Iowa volleyball squad staged a scrimmage inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena tonight at 6:30 p.m. The Hawkeyes open their 2005 season officially next weekend with the staging of the annual Holiday Inn-Hawkeye Open.
