IOWA CITY, IA — The University of Iowa Men’s Cross Country team is ranked 13th nationally in this weeks Mondo NCAA-I Men’s poll conducted by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association. The ranking is three spots higher than their preseason ranking. The Hawkeyes rank No. 1 in the Midwest Region.

“I’m really happy we moved up three spots even though we haven’t competed for a couple weeks,” said Head Coach Larry Wieczorek. “It’s really exciting to be ranked this high. I’m looking forward to defending our ranking and seeing how we stack up against some very good competition this weekend.”

Another Hawkeye note, Seniors Dan Haut and Adam Roche today were named team captains for the 2005-2006 season.

The Hawkeyes compete Saturday in Minneapolis, MN, at the Roy Griak Invitational. The 8,000-meter race will begin at 11 a.m. at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.
