University of Iowa senior linebacker Chad Greenway has been named a semi-finalist for the Chuck Bednarik Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Greenway, a native of Mt. Vernon, S.D., will accompany three other Big Ten defenders in the semis. Ohio State’s A.J. Hawk, Northwestern’s Tim McGarigle and Penn State’s Paul Posluszny joins Greenway on the list.
The winner of the Bednarik Trophy will be announced Dec. 8th during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show in Orlando, FL.
The Hawkeye senior ranks third nationally with 13.63 tackles per game. Greenway is a pre-season all-America pick and was an all-Big Ten selection last year. He is sixth on Iowa’s all-time tackle charts with 369.
