Four University of Iowa football players have been named the to the ESPN The Magazine District Seven Academic All-America Team. The announcement was made today.
Offensive lineman Mike Elgin, linebacker Mike Klinkenborg and defensive back Adam Shada have been named to the first district team. Second team honors went to punter Andy Fenstermaker. As members of the first team, Elgin, Klinkenborg and Shada will now move on to the national ballot for voting later this month.
Elgin, a junior from Bankston, IA, is on the first district team for the second straight year. He is majoring in mechanical engineering. Shada is a pre-business major and Klinkenborg and Fenstermaker are elementary education majors.
Elgin was a 2004 Academic all-Big Ten selection.
