Coach Steve Alford and the 2005-06 Iowa Hawkeyes are curious…is there a hero among you?
Do you know someone who has done something above and beyond the call of duty? Did you son or daughter or grandson recently serve overseas? Did your mom or dad or grandma do something special for someone at church? Did your sister or brother help a friend at school? Did they help a neighbor with their yardwork?
If there’s a hero among you, the Hawkeyes want to know…and they want to join you in saluting them for their heroics.
“There are wonderful things being done each day in every community across the state of Iowa by outstanding people. The staff thought the `Heroes Among Us’ program would be an easy way to salute the friends and neighbors of ours that are making a difference in the lives of their friends and neighbors,” said Alford.

Nomination forms for the “Heroes Among Us” program are available online at hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Fans can print theirs by visiting the men’s basketball home page and clicking on the “Heroes Among Us” link under the heading “Features.”
The UI will select one hero to be saluted at a home game of the Hawkeyes. The hero and the individual who nominated them will be provided pairs of tickets to the game and a $10 gift certificate to the Official Iowa Hawk Shop.
