Crystal Smith tied a school record for field goal percentage, shooting a perfect 9-9 (1.000) from the field, including 4-4 from 3-point range. She ties Jamie Cavey’s record (9-9, 1.000), which she established vs. Creighton on March 23, 2003.

Tonight’s 47-point victory is the ninth-largest win in school history. The Hawkeyes registered a 40-point win vs. UW-Milwaukee on Nov. 20.

Iowa scored the first 21 points of the second half and out-scored the Broncs 29-2 the first 10:30 of the second stanza. The Hawkeyes limited Rider to only four points over a 15-minute span covering the first and second halves.

Senior Crystal Smith, who was named to the all-tournament team, led the Hawkeyes in scoring for the fourth time this season, pouring in a game-high 24 points. Smith netted 16 of her 24 in the second half, including draining three-straight triples in the first two minutes of the second period.

Crystal Smith averaged 28.3 ppg in Iowa’s three games this week, including netting a school record 46 points at Louisiana Tech Tuesday night.

Iowa out-rebounded Rider 40-24, marking the first time this season the Hawkeyes have out-rebounded their opponent.

Freshman Megan Skouby tallied 11 points, including seven in the first half. She also blocked two shots.

The Hawkeyes posted season highs in assists (30) tonight.

For the first time this season, Iowa had five players record double figures (Crystal Smith, 24; Megan Skouby, 11; Nicole VanderPol, Stacy Schlapkohl, 10; Tiffany Reedy, 10). Additionally, Iowa had nine players score at least four points tonight.

Nicole VanderPol posted a season high with 10 points, with Abby Emmert collected a career-high seven assists. Krista VandeVenter recorded five assists for the second time this season (at Louisiana Tech).

Iowa converted 88.9 percent (8-9) from the foul line tonight. The Hawkeyes converted 25-28 (.893) from the charity stripe at the Odwalla Classic.

Tonight’s game was the first against Rider and any school from the MAAC.
