Hawkeyes Travel To Colorado For This Week's Competitions

THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team will travel to Colorado for this week’s competitions. The Hawkeyes will face #52 Denver, Friday, at 12 p.m. and then Colorado State, Saturday, at 1 p.m. Competition will take place at the Benjamin F. Stapleton Jr. Tennis Pavilion.

THE HAWKEYES— The Hawkeyes are currently ranked 44th, with a 1-1 record. Individually, Meg Racette is currently #21 and Mili Veselinovic #93 in singles rankings. Others expected to compete for the Hawkeyes are Krissy Dowlin, Merel Beelen, Jacqueline Lee, Hillary Mintz, and Kayla Berry.

THE COMPETITION — Denver is currently 1-2 for the season. Colorado State has a 1-1 record. Neither team has nationally ranked players.

LAST MEET — The Hawkeyes hosted their first home competitions of the season, facing Marquette and Baylor. Iowa defeated Marquette, 7-0, before losing to Baylor, 5-2. Meg Racette defeated defending NCAA Champion, Baylor’s #17 Zuzana Zemenova, 6-4, 6-4, and Hillary Mintz defeated #80 Daniela Covello, 6-2, 6-4.

HEAD COACH Daryl Greenan–Coach Greenan is in his second season as head coach for the Hawkeyes. He led the Hawkeyes to a 14-10 overall record in 2005, going 8-4 in Big Ten competition for a fourth place finish in the conference. Toni Neykova is the assistant coach and begins her fourth season with the Hawkeyes.
