Suffice to say it’s busy on and off the University of Iowa campus for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Steve Alford’s UI men’s basketball team will open their 2006 NCAA Tournament run in Auburn Hills, Mich., later today when the Hawkeyes – the No. 3 seed in the Atlanta Region of this year’s Big Dance – squares off against Northwestesn State.
Tomorrow, Lisa Bluder’s Iowa women’s basketball team will meet Brigham Young in first round action of the NCAA women’s basketball tournament. That game will be played in Denver.
And, not to be outdone, Jim Zalesky’s UI wrestling team is about halfway through the 2006 NCAA Wrestling Championships in Oklahoma City.
Meanwhile, work continues on the renovation at historic Kinnick Stadium. The most significant to the eye progress is the completed installation of the cement floor for the outdoor club seats in the section of the new press box that rests between the north and south ends of the structure that were erected last fall.
