Graduate Assistant Women's Rowing Coach

The University of Iowa is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Graduate Assistant Women’s Rowing Coach, beginning August 1, 2006.

Responsibilities: The Graduate Assistant will work with coaching staff in all aspects of running a Division I rowing program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to coaching, on-campus recruiting, and administrative duties. Candidates should possess enthusiasm for coaching and the sport of rowing, a strong rowing background, excellent oral and written communication skills, a solid work ethic, and a commitment to following Big Ten and NCAA rules. They should also look forward to working in a team coaching environment. Previous college coaching experience is desired but not required.

Qualifications: Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree and qualify for appointment as a graduate assistant at the University of Iowa. The graduate assistant must enroll in at least 50 percent (a minimum of five hours) of a regular graduate program of studies.

Salary: Per NCAA rules, compensation will not exceed the value of a full grant-in-aid for a full-time in-state student, approximately $13,000-14,000.

Terms of Employment: Per NCAA rules, individuals may serve as a graduate assistant coach for a period of not more than two years except that if the individual successfully completes 24-semester hours during the initial two-year period, the individual may serve as a graduate assistant coach for a third year. Appointments will be based on the academic year (9 months) with ten equal monthly payments beginning September 1, 2006.
