THIS WEEK — The women’s golf team travels to St. George, Utah, next Monday thru Wednesday to compete in the 54-hole BYU Dixie Classic. The teams will play 18-holes each day on the par-71 Entrada Snow Canyon Country Club Course.

THE COMPETITION — The competing teams include: Boise State, Brigham Young (host), Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Idaho State, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Portland State, San Diego State, UC Davis, UNLV Utah Valley State, Weber State and Wyoming.

LINEUP — Competing for Iowa will be Amy Riepma, Jill Marcum, Tyrette Metzendorf, Melanie Boyles and Karla Murra. Maggie Gelber will be competing as an individual.

LAST COMPETITION — The Hawkeyes finished fourth (out of 19 teams) at the Pinehurst Challenge with a 933 (+69). Amy Riepma led the Hawkeyes with a 14 over par, 230, to finish tenth.

SETTING RECORDS — Iowa set a new school record last fall with a 77.1 team scoring average. Freshman Tyrette Metzendorf is in second place on Iowa’s all-time individual season scoring average (75.8). Metzendorf was Iowa’s leader in the fall season.

HAWKEYE COACH — Coach Bobbe Carney is in her fourth year as Iowa’s head women’s golf coach. Last season, the Hawkeyes posted their best season under her guidance, finishing sixth in the Big Ten.

QUOTING HEAD COACH Bobbe Carney — “We are facing a strong field of teams we haven’t seen before. This is an opportunity to play teams ranked ahead of us. We had good practices this week heading into the competition.”

NEXT COMPETITION — Iowa returns to competition April 14-15 at the Illini Spring Classic in Champaign, IL.
