Malik Perry, a small forward from Philadelphia, PA, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Iowa.

Perry (6-5, 225) joins the Iowa program after attending Lutheran Prep School in Philadelphia this past year, where he averaged 13 points and nine rebounds per game for Coach Darryl Schofield. Perry graduated from Roman Catholic HS in Philadelphia.

“Malik is a very solid defensive player who has taken advantage of the additional year of prep school,” said Iowa Coach Steve Alford. “He is strong and athletic and gives us another versatile player that can play a number of roles for our team. His athleticism and desire to be a complete player fits right in with the other players joining the program for next season.”

Perry is the fifth player to sign with the Hawkeyes for next season. Freshman Tyler Smith (6-7, 210), from Virginia Military Academy, signed earlier this spring. During the fall signing period Iowa added Jamie Vanderbeken (6-10, 235) from Belleville, Ontario, Canada, Cyrus Tate (6-8, 240) from Northeast (NE) Community College and Justin Johnson (6-6, 190) from Tyler, TX Community College.
