IOWA CITY – Sophomore Emily Nichols and senior Stacy May were both named to the NFCA Mideast All-Regional teams. Nichols was selected to the first team as a utility player while May was selected to the second team as a shortstop.
Nichols has played 40 games at third base and 12 games at both catcher and first base this season. The Portland, OR, native leads the team with 14 doubles and 34 RBI along with a .320 batting average. This is the second consecutive year she has earned all-regional honors. Nichols was a first team selection as a freshman in 2005.
May has started all 59 games at shortstop and leads the team with a .344 batting average. She also leads team in hits (63), runs scored (40) and home runs (6). May is a three-time all-regional selection.
Iowa will host the Region 10 NCAA Tournament starting Friday. The Hawkeyes face Nebraska at 4:30 p.m.
