IOWA CITY – University of Iowa baseball players Tim Gudex and Austin Seward were honored by the Big Ten Conference Tuesday by being named to its all-Big Ten teams. Gudex was named to the first team as a relief pitcher, while Seward was named to the second team as a starting pitcher.
Gudex, a senior from Appleton, WI, earns first team honors for the second-consecutive year. He had a 4-2 record with a 1.15 ERA and led the Big Ten with ten saves. Gudex struck out 47 in just 39 innings pitched. Six of his saves came during conference play, which was tops in the league.
Seward, a senior from Cedar Rapids, IA, earned his first all-Big Ten laurels. He compiled a 6-6 record with a 4.08 ERA and 32 strikeouts, with a 5-3 mark and 2.05 ERA in conference play. Seward was especially tough down the stretch, pitching complete games in three of his final four outings. He was 3-1 with a 1.04 ERA during that stretch.
The Hawkeyes finished their season with a 23-33 record and a 12-20 mark in the conference.
