IOWA CITY – Four University of Iowa field hockey players were named to the United States National Under-21 team this week. Junior Kadi Sickel, along with sophomores Roz Ellis, Caitlin McCurdy and Lauren Pfeiffer, will represent the Hawkeyes on the U.S. Under-21 team.
Iowa is one of only two schools with more than one student-athlete on the team. The University of Richmond has two members. It is the second-consecutive year Iowa has four members on the Under-21 team.
The team will participate in the U.S./Canada Field Hockey Challenge beginning today in Virginia Beach, VA. The tournament runs through Saturday.
“We are thrilled to see so many of our players selected by the Under-21 team,” Iowa Head Coach Tracey Griesbaum said. “As a coaching staff, we were able to watch them throughout the tryouts and they all played very well. Each one will represent both the University of Iowa and the United States well.”
