Senior kicker Kyle Schlicher has been selected to the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Watch List for the 2006 season. The announcement came Tuesday from the Palm Beach Country Sports Authority, the group sponsoring the award. Schlicher is one of 30 Watch List candidates for the 15th annual Lou Groza Award.

Schlicher, a native of Ankeny, ranks 10th in Iowa career scoring with 189 points. He ranked first in Big Ten field goal percentage (81%) and fourth in extra point accuracy (97.7%) last season. He scored 94 points in 2005, which ranks seventh on Iowa’s single season scoring charts.

He has made 38 of 47 career field goals with a career-best 52-yarder at Ohio State last year. Schlicher has been good on 75 of 79 extra points.

He was a second team all-Big Ten choice a year ago and was a semi-finalist for the 2005 Groza Award.

Former Iowa kicker Nate Kaeding won the 2002 Groza Award.
