IOWA CITY – Stacy Welp has joined the Hawkeye coaching staff as a volunteer assistant. Welp has 12 years of Division I experience as both a head and assistant coach.

Before coming to Iowa, Welp was an assistant coach at Illinois State for two seasons. While at Illinois State, Welp was travel and recruiting coordinator and assisted in all aspects of the program.

Welp also serves as a staff coach for the Region 2 Olympic Development Program. Her duties include evaluating, training and selecting girls from the Midwest to be considered for the U.S National Soccer Team youth player pools. She was also the head goalkeeper coach at a U-14 National Camp.

Welp was also an assistant coach at both Clemson and Fresno State. She served as head coach at Fresno State from 2001-04. During her time in California, Welp served on the Region IV Olympic Development Program staff.

“We are excited to add Stacy to the staff,” Head Coach Ron Rainey said. “Stacy, along with Eileen Narcotta and Eric Golz form a staff that brings a wealth of experience with players from both the Midwest and nationally. They will help take our team to another level.”
