MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The University of Iowa men’s tennis team finished play Sunday at the Gopher Invitational in Minneapolis, MN. The Hawkeyes faced competition from Wisconsin-Green Bay in doubles and singles.

The Hawkeyes were successful in singles competition Sunday, winning five of seven matches. Freshmen Tommy McGeorge, Walker Grimes, Patrick Dwyer and Reinoud Haal snagged wins for Iowa.

Wisconsin-Green Bay was no match for the Hawkeyes in doubles competition as Iowa won all three matches. The team of McGeorge and sophomore Greg Holm played in the No. 1 spot. Dwyer and Grimes teamed for the No. 2 spot and senior Scott Elwell paired with Haal to form the No. 3 team.

“All of our guys were playing up three positions in the line-up and competed very well,” said Head Coach Steve Houghton. “I’m especially pleased with our doubles play, going 8-5 overall in the tournament.”
