Hawkeyes Look Toward Final Fall Competition

THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa men’s golf team will travel to Concord, NC, to compete in the 49er Collegiate Classic Monday and Tuesday. This will be the last competition of the fall season for the Hawkeyes.

THE COURSE — Competition will be played at Cabarrus Country Club. The 7,116-yard course is a par 72.

PREVIOUS COMPETITION — In 2005, Charlotte won the 49er Collegiate Classic with a score of 884. Charlotte’s Ray Sheedy carded a 212 to take first place. Iowa did not compete in the event in 2005.

LAST TIME OUT — The Hawkeyes tied for third at the Big Four Championships in Cedar Rapids. Iowa State won the event, carding a 568. Drake followed with a 571 and Iowa tied with Northern Iowa at 574. Junior Dan Holterhaus compiled a score of 138 in 36 holes to finish second. Senior Jon Feldick carded a 146 and tied for 10th.

THIS WEEK’S LINEUP — There is no definite lineup at this time for the tournament. The six Hawkeyes listed below will begin qualifying later this week in Iowa City and finish once they arrive in North Carolina.

HEAD COACH Terry Anderson — Anderson is in his 14th year as Iowa’s head coach. Anderson was a four-year letterman at Iowa State. He also serves as the Director of Golf at Iowa’s Finkbine Golf Course. He was named the PGA Golf Professional of the Year for the Iowa PGA Section in 1998 and 2004. Anderson is assisted by Adam Kaufman.
