A “Conversation With” Iowa men’s basketball Coach Steve Alford, a one-hour show featuring Alford and the Hawkeye basketball program, will air statewide on the Mediacom Connections Channel. Mediacom Connections is channel 74 in Iowa City and channel 22 in most areas of the state.

The show will air initially on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. Other dates and times include Sunday, Nov. 5 (8:30 p.m.), Wednesday, Nov. 8 (9 p.m.), Thursday, Nov. 9 (4 p.m.), Saturday, Nov. 11 (7 p.m.) and Sunday, Nov. 12 (8:30 p.m.).

The show is hosted by former Hawkeye player Al Lorenzen, a Cedar Rapids native and four-year letterman from 1985-88. The show discusses both the on and off the court life of Iowa’s men’s basketball coach and the Hawkeye program.

Alford is beginning his eighth season at Iowa, having led the Hawkeyes to six straight winning seasons and post-season invitations. Iowa posted a 25-9 overall mark a year ago, winning its second Big Ten Tournament title under Alford. The Hawkeyes also won the Big Ten Tournament in 2001 and advanced to the title game in 2002, winning over 20 games in 2001, 2005 and 2006.

Iowa, last season, posted the second most wins in school history, including a 17-0 record in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa begins the season with 18 straight home victories, a streak that ranks third in the nation behind Gonzaga and Connecticut.

Alford is in his 15th season as a head coach on the college level, posting a career mark of 291-169. His record in the Big Ten Tournament is 13-7, ranking tops among all league coaches in tournament wins and winning percentage. He ranks first among all Division I coaches in the nation, age 41 and under, in career wins.

The Hawkeyes host Buena Vista University Friday, Nov. 10 in their only exhibition game. Iowa begins the regular season Monday, Nov. 13 by hosting The Citadel. Both games have a 7:05 p.m. start time.
