Hawkeyes Defeat Drury, Fall To Missouri And Louisville

COLUMBIA, MO – The University of Iowa’s men and women’s swimming and diving team faced the Missouri Tigers, Drury Panthers and Louisville Cardinals Saturday at the Mizzou Dual Meet Challenge. The Hawkeye men defeated the Panthers 68-61, but fell to the Tigers 94-33 and the Cardinals 91-77. The Iowa women beat Drury 78-51, but lost to Missouri 100-29 and Louisville 105-61. The Hawkeye men drop to 3-5 (1-2 Big Ten), and the Iowa women now stand at 3-5 (0-3 Big Ten).

Sophomore Nick Divan led the Hawkeye men on Saturday, recording a second in the 500 freestyle (4:37.72) against Missouri and Drury, along with first place finishes in the 400 IM (4:05.78) and the 1,650 freestyle (15:52.10) against Louisville. Junior Dragos Agache got the only other first place finish for the Hawkeye men on Saturday in the 50 breast against Louisville (26.10).

Sophomore Alison Gschwend (50 backstroke – 27.58), along with freshmen Christine Kuczek (50 freestyle – 24.28) and Laura Mozdzen (50 butterfly – 26.48), all picked up first place finishes against Louisville for the Hawkeye women. Freshman Julie Feingold record three second place finishes – two against Missouri and Drury – for Iowa; sophomore Ashley Dell also placed second in the 1,650 freestyle (17:12.87).
