IOWA CITY, IA – Senior Peaches Roach was named co-Field Athlete of the Week by the Big Ten today for her performance in the high jump last week at the Iowa Invitational. She shares the award with Veronica Jatsek of Ohio State. This marks the first time a member of the women’s track team has been awarded with an indoor weekly honor by the Big Ten.
Roach earns the award after tying the Iowa Recreational Building record, with a season-best leap of 6-0 (1.83 m) at the Iowa Invitational. She missed automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships by 0.01 meters. Roach currently ranks 13th in the nation and second in the Big Ten.
In addition to the high jump, Roach also holds the team-best time in the 60 meters with a time of 7.56.
The Hawkeyes return to action Saturday at 9 a.m., at the Big Ten Championships, hosted by the University of Illinois.
