IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa’s Katie Burke has qualified for the 2007 NCAA Gymnastics Championships, to be held April 26-28 at the University of Utah. Burke finished seventh in the all-around at NCAA Regionals to qualify. Burke put together an all-around score of 38.925 at the regional competition. Burke’s other scores included a 9.775 on vault, 9.75 on bars, 9.7 on beam, and 9.7 on floor.
“Katie has had an outstanding season,” said Iowa Head Coach Larissa Libby. “We’re extremely proud of her accomplishments and know she’ll do a great job of representing Iowa at the NCAA meet.”

Burke had many solid performances this season, earning career-highs on every event. She holds Iowa’s top all-around season score at 39.25, as well as the team’s top bars (9.875) and beam (9.825) scores. Burke received Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors, this season, after a particularly strong showing at Minnesota, in which she placed first on bars, beam, floor, and all-around. In addition, Burke placed first on bars five times this season and was ranked as high as 29th nationally in the all-around.
