IOWA CITY — One of the state of Iowa’s favorite sons – Cedar Rapids’ native Zach Johnson – is expected to play a prominent role in the second professional golf “major” of the 2007 golf season: The 2007 U.S. Open to be staged today and through the weekend at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.
Johnson, a huge fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the 2007 Masters champion, found himself talking about another favorite son of the Hawkeye State – UI football coach Kirk Ferentz – after yesterday’s practice round.
“He’s truly one of my favorite individuals that I’ve ever met,” Johnson said of Ferentz in an article that was written by Mike Hlas and appeared in today’s editions of The Gazette. Click HERE to read the full story.
