July 23, 2007

Iowa baseball student-athletes Kevin Hoef and Tyson Blaser have been named to their respective summer league all-star teams.

Junior-to-be Hoef has been the leading hitter in the Cape Cod League for most of the summer and currently is batting .350 with eight stolen bases for the Bourne Braves. Hoef (Troy, IL) will start at second base for the West All-Stars. The Cape Cod League is one of the most prestigious summer baseball leagues in the country and will hold its all-star game Saturday in Cape Cod, MA.

Sophomore-to-be Blaser will be a reserve catcher in the Central Illinois Collegiate League All-Star game, which will be played tonight at 7 p.m. in Huntingburg, IN. Blaser (Taylor Ridge, IL) has been playing for the Quincy Gems.

Hoef and Blaser join senior-to-be Ben Geelan as all-stars. Geelan represented the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Northwoods League All-Star game earlier this month.
