Iowa Finishes Second at Big Four

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – The University of Iowa men’s golf team opened the 2007 fall season at the Big Four Championship at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids, IA, Tuesday. The Hawkeyes finished second with a 36-hole score of 563 (+3). Iowa State won the event with a score of 550 (-10), taking a 2-0 lead in the 2007-08 Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series. This was Iowa’s first meet under new head coach Mark Hankins.

Senior Dan Holterhaus led the Hawkeyes, shooting an even-par 140 for sixth place. Senior Todd Larson and freshman Dusty Koth finished tied for 11th (143). Junior Zack Anderson finished 17th (145) while junior Cole Peevler finished 18th (146). Peevler led the field with a score of 66 after the first round. Freshman Alex Moen finished 21st (150). Iowa State’s Chris Baker captured medalist honors with a score of 135.

Iowa’s next event will begin September 30-October 2 at the Fighting Irish Golf Classic in South Bend, IN.
