EAST LANSING, MI – – In their first official action since the spring season ended, the University of Iowa women’s golf team finished fifth Sunday at the Mary Fossum Invitational. While the Hawkeyes did finish in the top half of the field, they narrowly missed fourth place, trailing Michigan by only one stroke. Michigan State took the crown with a final score of 896.
At the end of the day, three Hawkeyes finished in the top ten, including junior Tyrette Metzendorf, who tied for sixth-place with a final score of 226. Seniors Melanie Boyles and Jill Marcum both finished tied for ninth with scores of 227.
The Hawkeyes will be in action in two weeks, when they travel to State College, PA to compete in the Lady Northern Invitational on September 22 & 23.
