Iowa Finishes Competition At Roberta Alison Fall Classic

TUSCALOOSA, AL –

Iowa completed its final day of competition today at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic hosted by the University of Alabama. The Hawkeyes finished the tournament and claimed three singles victories today.

The Hawkeyes were led by freshman Jessica Young, who took first place in her bracket when she defeated Kimber Redfern of UNC Charlotte, 7-6, (7-5), 1-6, 6-4, ending the tournament undefeated with a 3-0 singles record. Teammate Merel Beelen ended the tournament successfully by defeating Linda Johansson Belmont, 6-2, 6-2 while Kayla Berry also finished the tournament on a victorious note by defeating Valerie Behr of UNC Greensboro by default.

In other singles action, Kelcie Klockenga fell to Erika Zabkar of UNC Greensboro, 6-4, 6-7, (7-5), 6-3, while Lynne Poggensee-Wei was defeated by Tatiana Fiet of Mississippi State, 6-3, 6-1. Milica Veselinovic was defeated by Alejandra Gurerra of UNC Greensboro by default.

Iowa will continue competition Friday, Oct. 5 at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, IN.
