IOWA CITY – The Big Ten Conference named University of Iowa junior midfielder Lauren Pfeiffer as Offensive Player of the Week for her play in Iowa’s win over Northwestern (5-1) and Providence (3-1). This is Pfeiffer’s first career Big Ten Weekly honor. She was named National Player of the Week by www.Women’sFieldHockey.com last season for her efforts in the Big Ten Tournament.
Pfeiffer scored two goals in the win over Northwestern and one against Providence along with one assist. She leads the team in goals with 12, eight of which have come in the past five games. The native of Mt. Laurel, NJ, ranks first in Big Ten in shots (18), points (10) and goals (5).
This is the third weekly honor that the Hawkeyes have received this season. Goalkeeper Lissa Munley earned the award, Sept. 3 and back Meghan Beamesderfer was honored, Sept. 17.
Iowa will play Ohio State Sunday in Columbus, OH, at noon (CT). The game will be televised by the Big Ten Network.
