GAINESVILLE, FL – The University of Iowa women’s golf team completed day one at the Gainesville Shootout in Gainesville, FL. The Hawkeyes recorded an 18-hole score of 321 (+41) at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. Iowa is currently in 12th place in the 15-team field. Texas State is the front-runner after day one with a 301 (+21).
Three golfers shot 80 (+10) Thursday to lead the Hawkeyes (Tyrette Metzendorf, Becky Quinby, Jill Marcum). Senior Melanie Boyles shot an 18-hole score of 81 (+11) to tie for 48th. Freshman Lauren Forbes shot a 92 on the day. She is tied for 77th. In addition, two Hawkeyes are competing as individuals. Alison Cavanaugh shot an 80 (+10) to tie for 38th and Brianna Coopman shot an 84 (+14) to tie for 61st.
Play will continue Friday with 18-holes beginning at 7:45 a.m. CT.
