IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa Head Men’s Tennis Coach Steve Houghton announced that Steve Nash has been named assistant coach of the men’s tennis team. Nash completed his second stint as a volunteer assistant coach this past year.

A Native of Burlington, IA, Nash had an outstanding playing career at Johnson County Community College (Kansas) and Drake University. As co-captain of the Bulldogs, he earned all-Missouri Valley Conference honors in singles and doubles.

From 2002 to present, Nash served as the University of Iowa’s Recreation Services Tennis Director. In that capacity, he has been in charge of all University tennis programs.

According to Houghton, “Steve played a pivotal role in our success and great improvement this past season. He has an extensive background, knows the game inside and out, is a great motivator and relates extremely well to the guys on the team. We are very fortunate to have him here.”
