The University of Iowa Athletics Department seeks applications for an assistant women’s gymnastics coach. This is a full-time, 12-month position, salary commensurate and includes full University benefits.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will assist in the coaching and administration of a Division I women’s intercollegiate gymnastics program on several levels; must possess the ability to plan, spot and conduct daily workouts on all four disciplines; recruit as permitted by NCAA rules; coordinate setup and tear down of equipment and facilities for home competitions; and perform other duties as assigned by head coach.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) required. Other required qualifications include: strong technical knowledge and spotting capability on all four events; at least three years of coaching experience with Level 10, Elite or NCAA Division I athletes required; knowledge of NCAA rules and a commitment to adhering to all policies, rules and regulations of the University of Iowa, the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA; effective communication, organizational, administrative and public relations skills necessary to conduct a successful Division I nationally competitive gymnastics program. Preferred qualifications include: experience at NCAA National Championships as competitor or coach preferred (e.g., Junior Olympic National Championships or USA National Championships); experience coaching female athletes; expertise in the maintenance, installation and purchase of gymnastics specific apparatus and equipment; expertise with multimedia computer applications; and demonstrated comfort in an office environment. Preference will be given to candidates that most effectively meet the athlete development and recruiting needs of the women’s gymnastics program.
