Hawkeyes Keep Lead Through Tough Day Two

WILMINGTON, NC – After a tough second day at the Landfall Tradition, the University of Iowa men’s golf team lost part of its incredible day-one lead, but remain 11-strokes ahead of the field. The Hawkeyes recorded a 312 (+24) second round and still sit comfortably in first with a 598 (+22). No. 25 ranked Tulsa is in second with a 609 (+33).

The Hawkeyes finished the day with all five golfers in the top-20 individually, led by Vince India. The sophomore has recorded a 36-hole total of 146 (+2) and is in a three-way tie for first place. Senior Cole Peevler is not far behind in fifth with a 149 (+5). Brad Hopfinger is also in the top-10 (ninth) with a 151 (+7). Additionally, freshmen Chris Brant and Brad George are part of a tie for 17th with a two-day score of 154 (+10).

“I thought our guys played pretty well today,” said Head Coach Mark Hankins. “We shot an incredible score yesterday, so we need to record five consistent scores tomorrow and we should finish alright.”
